Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen
it's Tuesday evening already, about one and a half hours left to check out to go to Antje Oeklesund in Rigaer Strasse where THE SPOILS are going to perform tonight. Not only that i am lending a guitar amp to my friends from Australia, i am as well excitedly looking forward to their music! It is just a fabulous band. (Who is about to miss them today: Tomorrow they are going to play Schokoladen in Ackerstrasse, Mitte.)
Last night I went to see Eugene Chadbourne at Madame Claude (see the archives for details about that Madame Grudet ;) - where by the way Martti and me are going to play on October 27th. That guy is just amazing - for those of you who have not heard about E.C., check out his website, myspace profile and start haunting that guy like a stalker in a rental car! He played a great concert, brillianlty encoring with Dorothy and the metal rake... things i'm glad to have seen in my life.
So well, but here come the news:
1) Tour dates for this Autumn are there!
I will go on tour with Mäkkelä's Trash Lounge (DE/FIN), not only an outstanding distributor of finish music in the G/A/S region but as well an amazing musician. Barefoot, equipped with yellow Gretsch (yes, "the Banana" is back!), worn out wedding suit, and a peculiar charm he will be performing solo, without his girl band "Orchesteri" but with songs that are about to blast your troubles far away. Served well with one or five good drinks...
2) This winter the Bellman Boys are about to hit the stage!
As soon as I return to Berlin I will get started with the new old band - but hey, more about that in my next entry in to my little diary...

Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen
after a nice but exhausting weekend of house keeping (like scanning old record artworks, tidying up the work room, cleaning & wiring the recording equipment, purging the vodka bottles...) it now finally is monday.
And it maybe would have been a lazy monday if not Roman Wreden and his buddy Zura arrived a couple of hours ago. The two guys have been on tour since May 15th. The following Gigs will be
BTW: Tomorrow Roman and Zora will play with Boris Klabunde & Fritz Carlton in a place called "Madame Claude". This is a French name and as I am told it refers to Fernande Grudet. Mme Grudet (or Mme Claude...) was an agent of the French Resistance while France was occupied by the Germans and had a couple of jobs held until she built up a VIP prostitution Network in the French capital Paris after World War 2 had ended.
Since 1992 Fernande Grudet lives in Fleury-Merogis south of Paris where she resides in a famous huge building, planned by the famous architect Guillaume Gillet.
Ship ahoy!
After having a smashing night at last week's "LoFi Blue Grass Night" with Laura Hettinger, Ingrid, and Maciek. And of course Sassa Sumner.
Sassa spontaneously opened up the evening last thursday at troedler, playing a couple of his wonderful rocking, bluesing, screaming, howling, gently weeping Singer Songwriter Songs about sex with sities and other great happenings.
This Thursday night he is going to be the host of his evening at the Dilemma Bar in Neukoelln. Sassa kindly invited me to show up and so I am going to play there, probably accompanied by Tom Diesel on skiffle board and Dvd Schlz on harmonica.
About the venue itself there is not much that has to be said - except for "bring your fishing rods" ;)

Heppa, hei, & welcome back,
it has been quite a while since the last update of this page has been uploaded: for the last couple of years i had sort of a burdon to carry with me. A burden of which i have relieved myself and so i brushed the dust off my guitars, ordered a new amp, polished my sunglasses, and shined my boots.
And I wrote a new song. Listen to it and watch the hilarious video on myspace.
One of the next things to come is a concert with Tomi Simatupang who is going to return from Jakarta for a couple of weeks. Expected date and venue
The lovely Miss Laura Bean is joining me with taking care of the musical entertainment of the night, accompanied by a couple of old and even older friends.
since the invention of can deposit [dosenpfand] canned beer [dosenbier] has become a quite exclusive occasion to enjoy one of the worlds most famous beverages - beer.
but as yesterday both my personal preference for beer and the accessibility of canned beer at the myfest in Berlin Kreuzberg met i instantly started debauching in memories...

And: Yet another mission is almost accomplished: once again I faced the tapes containing a crude assortment of sounds and songs which I recorded in 2007. And once again I did the roughest mix ever in order to get the shit in shape. And as well I found a nice outtake - which I do not want to keep back from you, so here is a tiny music player to introduce this sketch to you which I found on the tapes when mixing the album. I must have recorded it after some "official" take... Nothing more than a sketch - but here it is:

Last weekend MÄKKELÄ's Astro Jet has been stolen after show in Hamburg. It is a yellow '65 or '66 Gretsch Astro Jet and represents - besides Maekkelae himself, of course - a remarkable piece of MÄKKELÄ's TRASH LOUNGE. Give or take some minor and major thieveries - so far it has been a fabulous year, I got in touch with Martti again, toured with Klabunde even twice, regained ground in recording and started with the new record, actually even finished the record last week - give or take some minor or major thieveries, the record will be hopefully be released in spring, and now we'll see what autumn brings - and what will be left when winter comes.
Johnny Zabala sang "on a day like that/I wanna stay in bed" and I get that feeling that this is a headsup of what 2008 is gonna taste like - no more smoking cigarettes and diesel engines in berlin city sound like the situation in Berlin was going to be clearing up a lot. What will we be seeing then - but who knows?

time is due to annonce that TOMI SIMATUPANG, TOM DIESEL, KLABUNDE, and CLARK NOVA have now founded the soon legendary musical group
THE BELLMAN BOYS.
The Bellman Boys is a band and the current project of Tomi Simatupang, Boris Klabunde, Tom Diesel, and
Clark Nova and is based in Berlin. 
The band is as well a project as a "Band" in the traditional way and was founded out of a pool of musicians
surrounding Klabunde and Nova. Both know and have been working with each other for a decade now. On their
way from "the banks of the river fulda" (Kassel, GER) to Berlin and over they focussed on performing as "double
solo duet" from the beginning of this century on until now but
until now they never have considered this doublesoloproject
a fixed band. Not as a principal but more due to the fact that their main projects always occupied the
major part of the rare time (and of the even more rare money, too...). On their recent doublesolo
tour they
decided to focus on their project as what many people already expected it to be: A real "Band".
Shortly after returning they got in contact with Tomi Simatupang who had recently (been) returned from the
U.S.A. Before going there Tomi had played a couple of fabulous concerts with his band "The Tommy Simatupang
Reincarnation" which regrettably split but hopefully be reformed
as soon as possible. The very next day Tomi
joined Clark playing at "Doctor Sudden's Old Time Hootenanny" to the honor of Nikki Sudden he immediately
was recruited.
This threepiece
allstars
band now got completed by Tom Diesel, the probably weirdest shuffle board player and
calmest drummer you will find between the poles of this small earth. He not only was the drummer of Clark's
former band Clark Nova Five but also has been part of thousands of really great bands all over Germany.
Behind the scenes there is FuseEmpire,
as well a musician, who these days is organizing and booking the tour
of the Bellman Boys. He has been touring Germany twice with Sweden's "Bear Quartet" and who has always
been a very special part of the earlier mentioned network.
We are looking forward to the forthcoming SwedenTour
in this year's September.
The Bellman Boys are also backing some songs on the B-Side of Clark Nova's new record with the working title "Whores/Horse" which will be released Jan/Feb 2008.

now that i - due to well explored but yet undiscovered causes (you'll be told quite soon)- seem to be berlin-bound for quite a while there ain't nothing wrong playing another concert in the new york of brandenburg.

my dear desperados,
it feels like decades had passed since the day martti and me met for the first time. it was back when times were hard for more-or-less-young musicians such as us, times where a pfennig spent meant losing a deutschmark. roughly.
as well i can't quite remember, by whom we might have been introduced. sometimes i thought that nikki had done so, but then i realized that i probably introduced nikki to grae and clive. well maybe it was harry but at least - 
where do i know him from?
well, back then when i met martti, grae j., and clive for the very first time, they were doing the ANGLO GERMAN LOW STARS' (starring: CLIVE PRODUCT, COLT aka. nowadays HF COLTELLO, ERICH A., GRAE J. WALL, ANDY "K-BONE" KEEBLE, and MÄKKELÄ's TRASH LOUNGE) last UK and GER tour gig in kreuzberg in order to continue their recordings in some studio in potsdam the next days.
we had a couple of (or one quite long??) intoxicating nights in kreuzberg and what i still can recall is grae j. preaching the considerable advantages of "just do it! vs. the difficulties that might occur concerning the trademarks of a greek goddess.
whatever, i guess it might have been one of my better ideas to drop in at martti's newly reopened finnish record store KIOSKI in fürth some weeks ago when i was travelling across bavaria. it was just good talking to him again and seeing that he is well off and all that stuff. by the way we found out that he was going to have a day off in berlin in april and so we quickly decided for a joint venture that is going to be premiered the very forthcoming saturday evening, april 21st: MÄKKELÄ's TRASH LOUNGE meets CLARK NOVA's LOFIBLUES!

as i tried to imagine what nikki himself would have said about his own passing i thought that he would have been arguing with the angel that took him across for that there still were and are too many things to be done.
on october 28th in 2003 nikki started Doctor Sudden's Old Time Hootenanny for the first time. and that is what we're going to tie up to next friday, march 29th 2007, picking up his words "IT'S GOOD TO PLAY MUSIC".
but this message is not only announcing this to you - you are invited to come along and play some of nikki's songs if you like to but as well some of your own songs. just leave a short message which and how many songs you are going to play and which instrument you are playing and who is going to join you.

my band clark nova five which was formed in 2002 by Tom Diesel, Johnny
Zabala and Clark Nova now has a new member: Zeppy now plays the organs,
